Music from Angel Fire, now in its 33rd season, produces each year a nationally renowned summer music festival that presents 12 classical chamber music concerts in Angel Fire, Taos, Las Vegas, and Raton, along with numerous educational activities throughout the northern New Mexico region. The MFAF performing artists are among the most highly sought after chamber musicians from around the country, including students who are invited each year from the Curtis Institute of Music as part of the Young Artist Program.

The Music from Angel Fire Internship Program provides college students and recent graduates with training towards a professional career in arts management, festival production or non-profit administration. Through on-the-job training, interns will build practical experience and develop professional skills to take with them into the next stage of their career. An ideal intern must be organized, a professional team player, quick on their feet and have the ability to remain calm in a fast paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend events and promote Music from Angel Fire.
  • Work closely with Box Office Manager to provide superior customer service to festival patrons.
  • Respond to general inquiries and requests.
  • Process ticket transactions
  • Sell tickets at all concert venues as assigned.
  • Assist in concert set up including will call, program book inserts, and merchandise.
  • Assist in festival merchandise sales.
  • General administrative and office maintenance.
  • Keep a log of hours, projects, and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned to ensure overall success of the festival.

Qualifications:

  • Background in sales and customer relations.
  • Interest in arts administration and/or non-profit management.
  • Strong communication skills, positive energy and willingness to pitch in.
  • Sound discretion, tact, diplomacy and graciousness with different personalities, working and communication styles.
  • Ability to take charge and problem solve.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive.
  • Organizational skills with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments.
  • Must have reliable transportation (car) that can be used for the duration of the internship.
  • Personal laptop and appropriate computer skills.
  • Ability to present one’s self professionally, through attire and demeanor.
  • An interest in classical music or the performing arts.

Other Information:

Box Office and Operations Intern will report to the Box Office Manager. Internship dates are August 8 – September 9, with compensation of $750 to cover personal expenses. Hours will vary from 20 hours the week of Aug 8 – 14 to 40 hours during the festival. The position will be based in Angel Fire, with the exception of Aug 8-12 and Sept 5-9 when the position will be based in Santa Fe. Fuel reimbursement will be provided for travel between Santa Fe and Angel Fire, and there will be shared housing and fuel provided during the festival in Angel Fire.

  • Edit and catalog photos/videos into a database.
  • Work with marketing director on flier distribution, social media, and other promotions.
  • Obtain and maintain proper permission and release forms of photo subjects for publication.
  • Keep a log of hours, projects, and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned to ensure overall success of the festival.

Qualifications:

  • Background in photography/videography.
  • Camera and photo editing skills
  • Strong communication skills, positive energy and willingness to pitch in.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, and photo and video editing software.
  • Organizational skills with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments.
  • Familiarity with social networking sites.
  • Must have reliable transportation (car) that can be used for the duration of the internship.
  • Personal laptop and appropriate computer skills.
  • Ability to present oneself professionally, through attire and demeanor.
  • An interest in classical music or the performing arts is helpful, but not required.

  • Be familiar with the festival production and rehearsal schedule, along with the musician roster.
  • Assist Production Stage Manager with:
  • pre-festival stage and venue assembly, as well as load-in, load-out and prep of concert and event space
  • inventory and tracking of production supplies and equipment
  • concert production, including stage changes, lighting, and monitoring back stage areas
  • green room refreshment preparation and cleanup
  • Assist House Manager with duties relating to front-of-house management, including venue seating, volunteer ushers and program books.
  • Keep a log of hours, projects, and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned to ensure overall success of the festival.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to move heavy objects including the ability to lift and carry 40+ pounds.
  • Ability to multi-task and keep record of all production elements.
  • General working knowledge of stage crew and house management in theater/concert settings.
  • Strong communication skills, positive energy and willingness to pitch in.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive.
